À l’automne 2024, la Morgan Library de New York annonçait une nouvelle retentissante: son conservateur, Robinson McClellan, avait découvert dans un legs le manuscrit d’une valse en la mineur de la taille d’une carte postale et surmonté de l’inscription «Chopin». Après analyse, des experts de Chopin du monde entier ont confirmé l’authenticité de l’écriture: il s’agit incontestablement d’un autographe du compositeur polonais et, en outre, d’une courte valse originale jusqu’ici inconnue. Dès lors, pianistes et musicologues se sont enflammés pour cette valse!
Les éditions G. Henle ont le privilège de présenter la première édition Urtext de la nouvelle valse de Chopin, élaborée en étroite collaboration avec la Morgan Library. Outre la partition éditée par Jeffrey Kallberg, cette édition contient également un fac-similé du manuscrit autographe. Dans sa postface, ce spécialiste de Chopin et chercheur de renommée internationale fait part de ses réflexions passionnantes sur la genèse et les circonstances de la composition de cette brève valse. Le célèbre pianiste Lang Lang est l’auteur des doigtés proposés. Il a fait le tour du monde avec cette découverte sensationnelle dont il est le premier interprète. Un trésor pour tous les fans de Chopin et les amoureux du piano!
