Outre son célèbre concerto pour piano, les nombreuses œuvres pour piano seul de Tchaïkovski constituent également une contribution importante à la musique pour piano romantique. Parmi elles, «Les Saisons» op. 37 sont des pièces agréables à jouer qui dégagent une atmosphère bourgeoise légèrement surannée permettant de les classer dans la catégorie de la «musique domestique». Au gré des douze mois de l’année, le pianiste y recrée douze tableaux d’ambiance intimes dont le caractère russe est particulièrement sensible dans le no 11, «Sur la Troïka», qui allie le charmant tintement des clochettes à la gaité des chansons des passagers du traîneau glissant sur la neige au mois de novembre. Notre édition est fondée sur le manuscrit autographe et sur la première édition russe. Elle contient également les excellents doigtés proposés par Klaus Schilde.
